Born on July 21, 1961, in Moshupa, Botswana, Masisi comes from a politically active family. His father, Edison Masisi, was a cabinet minister in the 1960s. Mokgweetsi Masisi attended primary and secondary school in Botswana before pursuing higher education abroad.
